Identity

同一 · Тождественные

You only have to start the sentence.

同一 / one of the sixteen relations

No explanation needed. Whatever you start saying is understood to the end. Because you are alike, it works best when the roles are kept separate.

IDENTITY

01  When you first meet

Fast talk

No preamble is needed. You find the same things interesting and the same things tiresome. Halfway through an explanation, the other person has already understood. From the first meeting you talk as if you had known each other for years.

There is relief, too. What you thought was odd about yourself turns out not to be odd. A person who handles the world the same way is actually standing in front of you.

The value of this relation is not fit but confirmation. Knowing you were not the only one is what matters.

02  After a while

You both stop in the same place

Ask for advice in a tight spot and you get exactly the same answer back. And it is the answer you have already tried and found wanting.

You are good at the same things, so there you both light up. But you are weak at the same things too, so there neither of you can reach. One taking it over for the other rarely happens.

The other person's inability can be irritating. It has the same shape as your own, so you see it exactly. When you are annoyed with this person, you are usually looking at the same trait in yourself.

03  If it is to last

Walking side by side

As friends it lasts long. The quality of understanding is high, so there is no reason to part. But being together rarely adds something.

If you do something jointly, you need a design that splits the roles clearly or hands the weak area to someone else. Best for understanding; for complementing, you need a different partner. These are two different things.

Because neither pushes the other, you can stay side by side for a long time.

Same type, not the same person

Even when the types match, upbringing, experience, values and profession differ.

What matches is the handling, not the content
Only the way of handling information is alike; what each holds dear is a separate matter. Two of the same type disagreeing is entirely ordinary.
The difference in experience shows directly
You hold the same tools, so the difference between the one who has used them longer shows easily. With a gap in age or experience, it can look like teacher and student.

Where this relation is useful

The situations where being alike is an asset, and where it is not, are sharply divided.

Best when you want to be understood
A person who understands without the labour of explaining is rare. When you are low, or lost, you do not have to begin by describing the situation.
Keep someone else for advice
The field of view is the same, so what you cannot see, they cannot see either. Consulting them is reassuring, but answers are hard to come by.
Do not stack the same duties
Two people in the same role means the gaps overlap. Make the division clear and the strength of this relation shows as it is.

PROne thing for this relation

A relation that gets through from half a sentence, so experiences needing no explanation.
