Half a sentence, and it gets through. Someone with the same convictions and the same discipline. But there is only one final say.
ISTJ × ISTJ is the Identity relation, one of the sixteen. Half a sentence, and it gets through.
Written as ISTJ × ISTJ it is the same pair. In 16Personalities terms, the Logistician and the Logistician.
The same convictions, the same worldview, the same seriousness. Each appears to the other as businesslike and focused on their profession. When goals and methods align, it becomes a motive to join forces as a family.
In terms of the mechanism, the "logic that builds order" in ISTJ's first position and the "force that pushes through" in the second sit in exactly the same positions in the other. The view you are best at, the other is best at too. So no explanation is needed, and so no new perspective comes from the other either. The strong places overlap, and do not double.
In the old observations, in identity the same elements of both act in the same positions, and a complete, painless repulsion arises. Since no words are needed, there is also nothing the other can hand you. For these two, emotional fire and future possibilities are absent on both sides.
The observation says both try to carry their opinion as authority and constantly fight over their place in the system.
Where identity is most useful is in learning. If a senior of the same type has walked the same road ahead of you, their experience can be used as it is. The observations too say repeatedly that it lasts long as mentor and pupil or with a difference in age. Only when two equal ISTJs do the same thing in the same place does the repulsion described above arise.
Two planners dividing the budget, two supervisors giving instructions.
Arranging the house by taste and refusing to acknowledge the other's taste. Trading assertions in a rigid, unyielding manner. The emotional impulse that moves a relationship comes from neither side.
The empty places are the same too. The "intuition that reads the flow" ISTJ wants most is what the other wants most, and neither has it. The "emotion that warms the room", which each produces with a little effort, takes a little effort from both. What flows in silently between duals never flowed between these two in the first place.
The same anxiety, "if something happens", neither can resolve for the other. Tension, discontent and a sense of not being respected pile up.
In raising children and in management, the same methods look duplicated, and the other's interference is a hindrance rather than a help. Boredom, lack of imagination, over-organisation.
They hold the same convictions.
Serious and businesslike.
They can run a house.
They will not yield the final say.
They cannot resolve the anxiety you share.
The same methods get in the way.
Both tried to carry their opinion as authority, demanded the final say, and fought over the arrangement of the house by taste, the record says.
Sharing the same intuitive anxiety, neither can resolve it for the other. Tension, distrust and the absence of respect pile up, the observation says.
Two planners dividing the budget, two supervisors giving instructions, two managers watching each other. The same methods duplicate and get in the way, the record says.
